The recall involves seven specific models of Jardine cribs with date codes printed on the label located on the inside of the bottom rail of the headboard or footboard. The affected models include the Drop-side Natural Olympia Single, Drop-side Dark Pine Olympia Single, Black Olympia Lifetime, White Olympia Lifetime, Americana Pecan 4-in-1, Antique Walnut Capri 4-in-1, and Drop-side White Capri Single.
The recall is being issued because the wooden crib slats can break, creating a gap that poses an entrapment and strangulation hazard to infants and toddlers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received 31 incident reports of slats breaking, including two reports of children becoming entrapped in the gap created by the broken slat. There was one report of minor injuries, specifically bumps and abrasions.
