Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid may not sound sufficient pedestrian warning
Toyota is recalling certain 2023-2025 Corolla Cross Hybrid vehicles because they may fail to make sufficient pedestrian warning sounds when in reverse. This fails FMVSS 141.

The vehicles may fail to make sufficient pedestrian warning sounds when in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 141, "Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles".
NHTSA states that insufficient pedestrian warning sounds may fail to alert pedestrians of a reversing vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
Dealers will update the software for the pedestrian warning sounds, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on June 2, 2026, with additional letters once the final remedy is available.
