2022-2025 Lucid Air Recalled for Rearview Camera Software Defect

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This is a risk-of-harm vehicle defect where injury has not yet been reported. The software defect affects a critical safety system (rear visibility) and increases crash risk, meeting the rubric criteria for High severity.

Plain-English summary

Lucid USA, Inc. is recalling certain 2022-2025 Air vehicles operating a software version prior to 2.8.0. The lower console display may fail to show a rearview camera image or may show a delayed, inaccurate image of what is behind the vehicle. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, Rear Visibility.

The potential number of units affected is 22,319. A rearview image that does not appear or fails to accurately depict behind the vehicle increases the risk of a crash.

Lucid has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 3, 2025. Owners may contact Lucid at 1-888-995-8243 or reference Lucid's recall number SR-25-04-0.
