Lucid Air Rearview Camera Display Failure May Increase Crash Risk

Lucid USA is recalling 2022-2025 Air vehicles where the rearview camera display may fail to show or delay the image behind the vehicle, increasing crash risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This is a safety-critical defect affecting rear visibility, which directly increases crash risk. However, no injuries or illnesses are reported in the source material, placing it in the High category per the rubric criteria for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.

Plain-English summary

Lucid USA, Inc. is recalling certain 2022-2025 Lucid Air vehicles with lower console display software prior to version 2.8.0. The rearview camera display in these vehicles may fail to show an image of what is behind the vehicle, or may display a delayed or inaccurate image.

This defect fails to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111, which requires adequate rear visibility. A rearview display that does not appear or fails to accurately show what is behind the vehicle increases the risk of a crash.

An estimated 22,319 vehicles are affected by this recall. Lucid has released a free over-the-air (OTA) software update to address this issue. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 3, 2025. Owners should contact Lucid at 1-888-995-8243 to verify their vehicle's software version and receive the update if needed.
