2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Blower Motor Failure Defrosting System
Chrysler is recalling certain 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles whose blower motors may fail, causing the windshield defrosting and defogging system to become inoperative and potentially decreasing visibility.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a structural vehicle defect affecting a safety-critical system (windshield defrosting/defogging). No injuries or deaths have been reported. The hazard is a potential increase in crash risk due to visibility impairment, placing it in the 'risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported' category, which scores at most 3 per the rubric.
Plain-English summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. The blower motor in these vehicles may fail, which can cause the defrosting and defogging system to become inoperative.
When this system fails, the windshield cannot be properly defrosted or defogged, which may decrease the driver's visibility. Decreased visibility increases the risk of a crash. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, which sets requirements for windshield defrosting and defogging systems.
Approximately 1,689 vehicles are affected by this recall. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 8, 2025. Owners can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or visit their dealer. Dealers will inspect and replace the blower motor free of charge. Chrysler's internal recall number is 49C.
