Chrysler is recalling certain 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L vehicles because the blower motor may fail, leaving the defrosting and defogging system inoperative. This fails FMVSS 103.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: defrost failure reduces visibility in certain conditions while the vehicle retains control, propulsion and braking.
Plain-English summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. About 1,689 units are potentially affected.
The blower motor may fail, which can cause the defrosting and defogging system to be inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems".
NHTSA states that an inoperative windshield defrosting and defogging system may decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect and replace the blower motor as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 8, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
