Mercedes Sprinter parking brake bracket welds can fail causing rollaway

Daimler Vans is recalling certain 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles because the parking brake cable bracket welds may fail and disengage the parking brake, failing FMVSS 105.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: a weld failure in the parking brake bracket is a structural failure of a braking system that can let an unattended vehicle roll away.

Plain-English summary

Daimler Vans USA, LLC is recalling certain 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles. About 88 units are potentially affected.

The parking brake cable bracket welds may fail and disengage the parking brake. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems".
