Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2025 Nissan Kicks vehicles equipped with a faulty body control module (BCM) that fails to activate the Shift-to-Park warning as intended.

When the vehicle's ignition is shut off while the vehicle is still in a gear other than Park, the warning system may not activate. This failure violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114 for theft protection and rollaway prevention. If the vehicle is not in Park when the engine shuts off, the car could move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of vehicle rollaway and crash.

The recall affects 2025 Nissan Kicks vehicles. Owners will be notified by mail; some notification letters were mailed starting January 29, 2025, with remaining letters anticipated to be mailed May 7, 2025.

Dealers will reconfigure the body control module to activate the Shift-to-Park warning at no charge.
