Nissan Kicks certification labels may show incorrect weight and wheel ratings
Nissan is recalling certain 2025 Kicks vehicles because the certification label may show incorrect Gross Vehicle and Axle Weight Ratings, and some SR trims may state an incorrect wheel size.
What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 2 covers minor labelling errors: no part of the vehicle is defective and the fault is incorrect figures printed on the certification label, remedied by replacement labels.
Plain-English summary
Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2025 Kicks vehicles. About 37,003 units are potentially affected.
The certification label may have been printed with incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating and Gross Axle Weight Rating values, which can result in the vehicle being overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification". Additionally, certain 2025 Kicks SR trim vehicles with the optional 19-inch wheel package may have a certification label stating an incorrect wheel size, failing Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims".
NHTSA states that an overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash, and that incorrect wheel and tire information may lead to improperly inflated tires.
Dealers will install new labels free of charge, and will also mail replacement labels to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 27, 2025. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
