Mercedes-Benz vehicles recalled for fuel pump failure affecting drive power
Mercedes-Benz is recalling 2021–2024 vehicles due to fuel pump failures that may cause loss of drive power, increasing crash risk. Dealers will provide free replacement.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a structural vehicle defect involving a critical fuel system component capable of causing total loss of drive power. However, no deaths, injuries, or property damage have been reported. Per the rubric, a structural defect with only theoretical consequences and no reported incidents merits a High rating rather than Severe.
Plain-English summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling certain 2021–2024 vehicles across multiple model lines due to a defect in the fuel pump. The affected vehicles include numerous Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach models, with approximately 79,676 units involved. The fuel pump may experience a shutdown that causes complete loss of drive power to the vehicle.
