Ford vehicles recalled for low-pressure fuel pump failure risk
Ford is recalling certain 2021–2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles because the low-pressure fuel pump may fail, causing engine stalls while driving and increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The defect is a structural safety issue (fuel pump failure causing engine stall while driving) with clear risk of harm. The source explicitly states the consequence increases crash risk, and no illnesses or injuries are reported, making this a High severity per the rubric criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2021–2023 Ford Mustang, Bronco, Explorer, F-150, F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, and F-550 SD vehicles, as well as 2021–2023 Lincoln Aviator vehicles and 2021–2022 Lincoln Navigator vehicles, plus 2022 Ford Expedition vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump in the fuel system may fail.
A fuel pump failure can result in an engine stall while the vehicle is being driven. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy is still under development. Ford mailed initial notification letters to owners on July 16, 2025, and a second letter with repair instructions will be sent once the remedy is available, which Ford anticipates will be in the second quarter of 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 with questions. Ford's internal recall number is 25S75.
