Mercedes-Benz Recalls Vehicles for Drive Shaft Universal Joint Breakage Risk
Mercedes-Benz is recalling specific 2018-2020 E-Class and S-Class models because the drive shaft universal joint may break, causing a sudden loss of drive power and increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (drive shaft universal joint) that can cause a sudden loss of drive power, which the source states increases the risk of a crash. This aligns with the rubric criterion for 'structural vehicle defect' or 'significant injury/property-damage reports' (implied by crash risk), warranting a score of 4.
