Western Star and Freightliner Trucks Fuel Tubes May Crack, Fire Risk
Fuel tubes in certain 2019–2022 Western Star, Freightliner, and FCCC trucks may crack, causing high-pressure fuel leaks that could ignite. DTNA is offering free replacement of fuel tubes and installation of vibration isolators.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural fuel system defect where fuel tubes may fatigue and crack, creating a documented risk of fire. However, no fires, injuries, property damage, or other incidents have been reported. This qualifies as a high-risk hazard with potential for harm but without confirmed actual incidents.
Plain-English summary
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2019–2022 Western Star, Freightliner, and FCCC commercial trucks. The fuel tubes connecting the fuel rail to the fuel injectors for cylinders four, five, and six may fatigue and crack.
A crack in these fuel tubes results in a high-pressure fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, such a leak increases the risk of fire in the vehicle.
Affected owners should contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 to schedule free replacement of the fuel tubes and installation of vibration isolators.
