Western Star 4700 and Freightliner fuel rail defect recall

Plain-English summary

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2018-2021 model year vehicles, including Western Star 4700, Freightliner Custom Chassis XB and XC, Freightliner 108SD, Freightliner 114SD, and Freightliner Business Class M2. The high-pressure fuel rail assembly in these vehicles may have a sealing washer that does not seat correctly in the pilot bore holes.

When the sealing washer does not seat properly, the fuel rail assembly can leak diesel fuel. If a fuel leak occurs in the presence of an ignition source, it increases the risk of fire in the engine compartment.

DTNA will replace the fuel rail and fuel lines at authorized dealers at no cost to owners. Owners were sent interim notification letters in June 2021.
