Emergency jack fracture risk affects Chevrolet Trailblazer and Buick Encore GX
General Motors is recalling approximately 135,400 certain 2020-2022 Buick Encore GX and 2021-2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles because their emergency jacks can fracture if not positioned correctly, risking vehicle collapse.

General Motors is recalling approximately 135,400 certain 2020-2022 Buick Encore GX and 2021-2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles. The emergency jack included with these vehicles can fracture if not positioned as directed in the vehicle owner's manual.
If the jack fractures during use, the vehicle can collapse, increasing the risk of injury. Owners will receive an interim notification letter beginning July 26, 2021, explaining the safety risk. A second notification will be sent once replacement parts are available.
Dealers will replace the emergency jack free of charge. Owners should contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 to schedule service.
