Daimler Trucks Recalls 2015-2016 FCCC XCR Chassis for Incorrect Tire Pressure Labels

Daimler Trucks is recalling 2015-2016 FCCC XCR chassis because incorrect tire pressure labels may lead to rim failure and crashes.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where incorrect labeling can lead to sudden rim failure and increased crash risk, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Daimler Trucks North America LLC is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 FCCC XCR chassis manufactured between May 12, 2014, and December 10, 2015. The recall involves 727 vehicles.

The incomplete vehicle document (IVD) labels on these chassis incorrectly list the tire pressures as 130 psi in the steer and tag axle positions, rather than the correct rating of 120 psi. If tires are inflated to the incorrect pressure listed on the label, the rims may suddenly fail due to over-pressurization, increasing the risk of a crash.

DTNA has notified the only purchaser of the affected chassis and provided them with corrected IVD labels free of charge. DTNA will not notify motorhome owners directly. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
