Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling certain model year 2016 GLC 300 and GLC 300 4Matic vehicles. The recall covers vehicles manufactured between June 16, 2015, and November 3, 2015, and between July 16, 2015, and November 3, 2015, respectively. The total number of affected vehicles is 888.
The steering columns in the affected vehicles may have the wiring harness for the switch module incorrectly routed. This defect may cause the harness to chafe, resulting in unexpected air bag deployment or engine stalling. These conditions increase the risk of a crash.
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the wiring harnesses and properly reroute them as necessary. Any damaged harnesses will be replaced.
