Plain-English summary
Navistar, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 IC CE and IC RE school buses manufactured between July 31, 2014, and February 20, 2015. The recall affects vehicles equipped with Haldex air brake actuators that may have an incomplete attachment of the internal rubber diaphragm to the actuation mechanism.
This defect could cause the brakes to drag or overheat. If the brakes drag and overheat, there is an increased risk of a wheel end fire. The recall supersedes previous recall 14V-808.
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the Haldex Life Seal Brake chambers free of charge. The recall began on June 19, 2015. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
