Prevost Cars, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 X3 and XLII shell converted coaches. The recall involves vehicles manufactured with an Automatic Fire Suppression System (AFSS) pressure tank located in the engine compartment.
In the affected vehicles, high engine compartment temperatures may cause the AFSS pressure relief tank to discharge its fire extinguishing agent. If the tank discharges and a vehicle fire occurs, the Automatic Fire Suppression System will be unavailable to assist in extinguishing the fire, which increases the risk of injury.
Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will relocate the pressure relief tank free of charge. The recall began on April 12, 2014. Owners may contact Prevost at 1-877-773-8678 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
