Plain-English summary
Prevost Car (US) Inc. is recalling certain Prevost buses, including the XL-40, XL-45, H3-45, H3-40, H3-41, X3-45, X3-45 Commuter, and XLII-45 models. The recall covers vehicles from model years 1992 through 2023, depending on the specific model.
The entrance door on these vehicles is missing the emergency exit operating instruction label. As a result, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release." Missing instructions may prevent or delay passengers from evacuating the bus during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury.
Prevost will replace the emergency exit label free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 7, 2026. Owners may contact Prevost's customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost's number for this recall is SR26-19.
