Jayco, Starcraft, and Entegra Towable Trailer Door Lock Recall

Jayco is recalling 2006-2014 towable trailers equipped with Fastec door locks because the key can jam the deadbolt, potentially trapping occupants inside.

Plain-English summary

Jayco, Inc. is recalling approximately 226,560 model year 2006-2014 Jayco, Starcraft, and Entegra towable travel, fifth wheel, and camping trailers. The recall affects units manufactured between January 1, 2006, and April 30, 2013, that are equipped with Fastec-brand door locks.

The defect involves the door lock mechanism, where it may be possible to remove the key in a way that jams the deadbolt. If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam, preventing a person inside the trailer from exiting through the door without using the emergency exit. This situation increases the risk of injury.

Jayco will notify owners, and Fastec will coordinate the inspection and replacement of the lock cylinders, as needed, free of charge. The recall campaign began on January 31, 2014. Owners may contact Jayco at 1-574-825-5861 or Fastec at 1-800-837-2505. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
