CJay Trailers Inc. is recalling certain model year 2006-2013 cargo trailers equipped with Fastec-brand door locks. The affected models include the CJ610, CJ612, CJ714, CJ716, CJ814, CJ816, CJ820, CJ823, and CJ824; model year 2007-2013 CJ510; model year 2008-2013 CJ813; model year 2010-2013 FX9-620 Combo; and model year 2009-2013 CJ830. A total of 2,261 vehicles are affected by this recall.

The defect involves the door lock mechanism, where it may be possible to remove the key in a way that jams the deadbolt. If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam. This could result in a person inside the trailer being locked in and unable to exit, which increases the risk of injury.

CJay will notify owners, and Fastec will coordinate the inspection and replacement of the cylinders, as needed, free of charge. The recall began in February 2014.
