GM Recalls 2013-2014 Chevrolet Camaro Coupes for Air Bag Label Defect
General Motors is recalling 2013-2014 Chevrolet Camaro Coupes because the air bag warning label on the sun visor may peel off, potentially leaving occupants unaware of air bag risks.
What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a labeling defect where a warning sticker may peel off, which is a minor labeling error that increases risk of injury in a crash but does not involve a structural defect or reported injuries.
Plain-English summary
General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Coupes manufactured between June 9, 2013, and September 6, 2013. The recall involves 18,941 vehicles where the required air bag warning label on the sun visor may peel off. This defect causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
If the air bag warning label detaches from the visor, the driver and front seat passenger may not be warned of the risks associated with air bag deployment. This lack of warning increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
GM will notify owners and instruct them on how to inspect the visor sticker. As necessary, dealers will replace the sun visor free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2013. Owners may contact GM at 1-800-521-7300 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
