Plain-English summary
Chrysler Group LLC is recalling certain model year 2003 and 2004 Dodge Viper vehicles manufactured between November 1, 2001, and June 30, 2004. The recall involves a defect in a component within the air bag control module. This failure may cause the front airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated.
The inadvertent deployment of these safety systems could increase the risk of personal injury and the possibility of a crash. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. An interim notification was sent to owners on March 18, 2013, and the recall began on March 26, 2014.
Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 for more information. They may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov.
