Honda Recalls 2003-2004 Odyssey and 2003 Acura MDX for Air Bag Defect

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Plain-English summary
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2003-2004 Honda Odyssey vehicles manufactured between February 13, 2002, and August 13, 2004, and 2003 Acura MDX vehicles manufactured between February 21, 2002, and September 23, 2003. The recall involves approximately 374,177 vehicles.
The defect is caused by electrical noise that may cause a component in the air bag control module to fail. This failure can result in the front air bags, side air bags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners deploying inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated. Inadvertent deployment may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash.
Honda dealers will replace the supplemental restraint system electronic control unit (SRS ECU) at no cost to the owner. The recall began on February 22, 2016. This recall supersedes recall 13V-412; vehicles that previously had a noise filter installed under that campaign must have the SRS ECU replaced under this new campaign. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
