Plain-English summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. is recalling certain model year 2011 E-Class vehicles (models W212 and S212) manufactured between July 8, 2010, and July 12, 2010. The recall addresses a defect where insufficient adhesive between the vibration damper and its inner mass damper ring could cause the ring to suddenly separate from the damper.
The primary risk associated with this defect is injury to a person repairing the vehicle or a bystander. If the inner mass damper ring separates while the engine is operating, it could strike and injure individuals working in the engine compartment.
