Hasbro Recalls Star Wars Lightsaber Toys for Battery Burn Risk

Hasbro has received 38 reports of batteries overheating, including six reports of batteries rupturing. Additionally, there are three reports of minor burns to consumers and one report of eye irritation.

These toys were sold at mass merchandise and toy stores nationwide from May 1999 through June 1999 for $20 to $30. Consumers should stop using these Lightsabers immediately. To obtain a free repair kit containing instructions to install a battery protector, consumers should call Hasbro at (800) 327-8264 or visit www.hasbro.com. Lightsabers currently sold with a sticker reading "Now with battery protector" are not part of this recall.
