The toys are packaged as "Super Bang...Blast Balls" and are sold in packs of two in various colors. They were sold at convenience and novelty stores from June 2001 through October 2001 for about $2. The toys were manufactured in China.
The recall is due to a burn hazard. When consumers strike the balls together in their hands to create a cracking sound, sparks can ignite. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and JA-RU have received six reports of injuries, including minor burns to hands and fingers.
Consumers should immediately stop using the "Blast Balls" and contact JA-RU for a refund. The company can be reached at (800) 231-3470 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
