These devices were sold at retail dive stores and through a mail-order catalogue from January 1996 through May 1998 for prices ranging from $179 to $359.

The recall is due to a defect where the low-pressure inflator hoses can separate from the jacket under normal scuba diving conditions. This separation could potentially cause drowning. Durapro Systems is aware of three reports of these hoses separating, but no injuries have been reported. The affected hoses are identified by the markings: "PLIOVIC MULTI PURPOSE 1/4" 1/D (6.4 mm) 250 PSI WP (1.7 MPA)...MADE IN USA...GOODYEAR."

Consumers who purchased one of these Durapro Systems BCDs should stop using them immediately. The hose should be returned to the dive store where it was purchased for a free replacement.
