What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The product violates a federal safety standard (VGBA) and poses risk of serious injury or death from entrapment and drowning. Although no illnesses or injuries have been reported, the inherent hazard of drowning places this in the High category per the rubric criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
The OeyUoc white pool drain cover, sold as a replacement pool drain cover, is being recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission due to violations of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA). The drain covers fail to meet entrapment protection standards and pose a serious risk of entrapment and drowning to pool users.
About 404 units were sold online on Amazon.com between April 2026 and June 2026 for approximately $18. The product came in clear packaging labeled with "X00501CQ7P," "OY-WG1048E-1P," "OeyUoc WG1048…Skimmer Lid SP1030," "MADE IN CHINA," and two stainless steel screws. No illnesses or injuries have been reported.
Pool owners and operators should stop using pools with the recalled drain cover immediately. To obtain a refund, consumers should remove the drain cover, mark it with "RECALL" using a permanent marker, photograph the marked cover, and email the photo to Yuanxinxiang at [email protected]. If feasible, the drain cover should be disabled by cutting its perimeter structure to prevent reinstallation, then disposed of. All pools and spas should have VGBA-compliant drain covers in place, and children should be taught to stay away from drains.
