Cressi-sub S.p.A. is recalling approximately 1,000 SCUBA buoyancy compensators, including models J107, J113, J115, and J119. The recall is due to a potential slow leak from the shoulder exhaust caused by the expansion of an internal cable housing. This defect could result in slow deflation of the device, which may impact a diver's ability to control buoyancy. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

The affected devices were sold through authorized dive shops nationwide and various websites from January 2003 through September 2004 for between $400 and $700. The recalled units are identified by a black retaining ring around the yellow inflate button on the inflation mechanism and an adjoining gray cover assembly that screws onto the inflator. Devices with yellow retaining rings and black cover assemblies have already been retro-fitted and are not subject to this recall.

Consumers can return the product to a Cressi-sub-authorized dive shop to have it retro-fitted with a free replacement internal cable housing.
