The recall is limited to consumers who use the Air 2 Alternate Inflation Regulator on a non-SCUBAPRO buoyancy compensator. Divers using the Air 2 on a SCUBAPRO buoyancy compensator are not affected.
The hazard involves an insufficient bond that may cause a break in the converter coupling. This failure could impact the diver's ability to control buoyancy. One incident has been reported, with no injuries.
The kits were sold through authorized SCUBAPRO dealers nationwide from October 8, 2003, through August 30, 2004, for approximately $7.75, or included in the Air 2 package from December 19, 2003, through August 30, 2004. Affected consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact SCUBAPRO to arrange a free replacement at an authorized dealer.
