What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where injury has been reported (struck in eye/face) but no hospitalizations or fatalities occurred, fitting the 'High' severity criteria for risk-of-harm products without severe injury reports.
Plain-English summary
Fisher-Price is voluntarily offering a free modification kit for more than 380,000 model 2306 "Pop-Up Playhouse" toys. The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) because the playhouses could unexpectedly come apart, posing a risk of serious eye or other injury to children or adults.
The hazard arises because the support structure is held together under tension; if tubes break or tension is released, parts can be forcefully ejected. Fisher-Price has received approximately 100 consumer reports of parts breaking off and being hurled with enough force to break glass or stick in drywall. While several consumers reported being struck in the eye or face, none of the injuries required hospitalization, and most incidents did not involve injury.
Consumers should immediately remove the toy from children and fold it according to the original instructions. They should not disassemble the playhouse until they receive the free modification kit. To order the kit, consumers can call Fisher-Price toll-free at 1-800-233-4004 or write to Fisher-Price Consumer Affairs at 636 Girard Avenue, East Aurora, NY 14052. The modification updates the toy to match the redesigned version currently marketed by Fisher-Price.
