Fisher-Price, of East Aurora, N.Y., is recalling approximately 2.5 million Lift & Lock Swings and 246,000 Get Up & Go Walkers. The Lift & Lock Swing is an outdoor swing for children aged 9 months to 3 years, featuring red or purple plastic seats and yellow T-shaped restraint shields. The Get Up & Go Walker is a three-sided push toy designed to help children learn to stand and walk, characterized by a white body with blue sides and specific front bar or windshield wiper configurations.
The recall addresses serious safety hazards. For the Lift & Lock Swings, children can maneuver out of the restraints and fall, resulting in serious injuries. For the Get Up & Go Walkers, young children leaning forward can tip the toys over and fall, and protruding windshield wipers can cause injury. Fisher-Price has reported eight serious injuries to children using the swings, including a fractured skull, leg, arm, and two collarbones, as well as two concussions and stitches. Additionally, 330 reports of children falling while using or near the walkers have been received, resulting in 132 injuries such as bumps, bruises, scratches, and cuts.
The Lift & Lock Swings were sold from January 1991 through August 2000 for about $19, while the Get Up & Go Walkers were sold from July 1997 through August 2000 for about $30. Consumers should stop using the swings and stop children from using the walkers immediately.
