What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural defect in a vehicle-like infant product (swing/carrier) that resulted in reported serious injuries, including a skull fracture, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Fisher-Price is recalling approximately 105,000 3-in-1 Cradle Swings with Detachable Carriers and 235,000 Bounce 'n Play Activity Domes. The recall involves specific model numbers and codes identified on the products. The 3-in-1 Cradle Swings are model numbers 79321 and 79322, while the Bounce 'n Play Activity Domes are model number 79534 with specific 6-character codes ending in 8 or beginning with 001 through 286 and ending in 9.
The recall is due to two distinct hazards. In the 3-in-1 Cradle Swing, the locks for the detachable carrier handle can unexpectedly release, causing the seat to flip forward and potentially allowing an infant to fall to the ground. This has resulted in 28 reports of the handle releasing, causing injuries to 10 infants, including a skull fracture, bumps, bruises, and scrapes. In the Bounce 'n Play Activity Dome, nylon bands holding the surface can detach, causing the surface to tilt. This can trap an infant in a position that makes it difficult to breathe, posing a suffocation hazard. There have been 28 reports of the bands detaching, but no injuries have been reported for this product.
Consumers should stop using the 3-in-1 Cradle Swing's seat as a carrier immediately. Fisher-Price will provide a free repair kit to lock the carrier's handle in place, which can be installed at home. Consumers can continue to use the seat as a cradle swing. Consumers should stop using the Bounce 'n Play Activity Dome immediately and discontinue use, as Fisher-Price has discontinued distribution of the repair kit for this product. For more information, consumers can call Fisher-Price at (800) 432-5437 or visit the Fisher-Price website.
