Droyd Multi-Purpose Helmets Recalled for Head Injury Risk
Reyhee Group is recalling about 400 Droyd multi-purpose helmets sold online from October 2023 through July 2024. The helmets do not meet federal safety requirements and can fail to protect wearers in a crash.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (protective equipment that fails to meet federal safety standards) where no injuries have been reported yet. This falls within the "High" severity criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Reyhee Group Inc., dba RGI Global, is recalling Droyd multi-purpose helmets for youths in sizes medium and large. The black helmets with black padding and straps were sold online at Droyd.com from October 2023 through July 2024 for about $40. Approximately 400 units have been distributed.
The recalled helmets do not comply with mandatory federal safety regulations for bicycle helmets, specifically in positional stability, retention system, impact protection, labeling, and certification requirements. As a result, the helmets can fail to protect the wearer's head in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury.
Consumers should stop using the recalled helmets immediately and contact Reyhee for a full refund. To receive a refund, consumers must cut the straps off the helmet and submit two photos: one showing both straps cut off and one showing the helmet and cut straps inside a trash can. Photos should be sent to Reyhee Group at [email protected] along with the consumer's name and address. Reyhee Group is contacting all purchasers directly. For more information, consumers can call Reyhee Group at 800-333-3729 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, email [email protected], or visit www.droyd.com/pages/safety-recall.
