NQDTPBOR Multi-Purpose Helmets Recalled Due to Head Injury Risk

NQDTPBOR multi-purpose helmets for teens do not comply with federal bicycle safety standards for impact protection, stability, labeling, and certification. The recalled helmets, sold on Amazon from May to August 2024, can fail to protect wearers in a crash.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The helmets fail to comply with mandatory federal safety standards for impact protection and positional stability in a safety-critical product. However, no injuries have been reported, placing this within the category of risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported, which scores as High per the rubric.

Plain-English summary

NQDTPBOR-branded multi-purpose helmets for teens are being recalled. The helmets were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from May 2024 through August 2024 at approximately $23 each. About 684 units were distributed in sizes small (S, fitting head circumference about 18 to 20.5 inches) and medium (M, fitting head circumference about 20.5 to 22 inches). The recalled helmets come in blue, pink, purple, green, and black, with black padding, black straps, and a black and red buckle.

The helmets do not comply with federal safety requirements for bicycle helmets, specifically the positional stability, impact, labeling, and certification requirements. Because of these failures, the helmets can fail to protect the wearer in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury.

No injuries have been reported. Consumers should stop using the recalled helmets immediately and contact TPBOR for a full refund. To receive a refund, consumers must destroy the helmet by cutting the straps, take a photograph of the destroyed helmet, and send the photo to [email protected]. TPBOR and Amazon are contacting all known purchasers directly.
