DR Power Chipper Shredders Recalled Due to Laceration Hazard
DR Power Chipper Shredders are being recalled because metal pieces can come loose and be ejected, or the hopper can detach, both creating laceration hazards. The firm has received 79 reports of parts coming loose and 3 reports of hopper detachment, with a total of 3 reported injuries.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a risk-of-harm product (ejected metal pieces, detached hopper) where injuries have been reported. Although only 3 injuries are documented among approximately 5,900 units, the hazard involves laceration risk and the firm has received multiple reports of the dangerous conditions occurring (79 reports of parts loosening/ejecting and 3 reports of hopper detachment), meeting the High severity threshold.
