DR Power LiPRO 5.0 Ah Battery Packs Recalled for Fire Hazards

Plain-English summary

This recall involves approximately 13,200 DR Power LiPRO 5.0 Ah rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs used with DR Power outdoor yard equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and snow throwers. The recalled battery packs include stand-alone model 414240 and removable packs included with equipment models 524340, SB11022XEN, T4X3026XEN, T4X3062XENR, CE75021XEN0, and CE77021XEN0.

The battery packs can short-circuit and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has received two reports of incidents involving fire and/or overheating. No injuries have been reported to date.

The affected battery packs were distributed nationally through home improvement and hardware stores, as well as online at DRPower.com and CountryHomeProducts.com between April 2018 and July 2024, priced between $250 and $700 depending on whether they were sold individually or as part of outdoor equipment.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled battery packs. Generac Power Systems Inc. is offering a pro-rated refund through DR Power. Consumers can contact DR Power at 800-454-8643 (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET), email [email protected], or visit https://drpower.com/recalls for refund instructions. The lithium-ion battery should not be discarded in regular trash or curbside recycling; contact your municipal household hazardous waste collection center for proper disposal.
