Klein Tools, of Lincolnshire, Illinois, is recalling approximately 3,800 Klein Tools and Blackfire portable rechargeable power stations. The recalled models are the Klein Tools KTB1000 and Blackfire PAC1000. These portable power stations contain lithium-ion batteries and deliver up to 1,500 watts of AC power, with four 120V outlets, six USB ports, and a 12V car port.
The internal inverter boards in these power stations can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. Klein Tools has received four reports of overheating. No injuries or lithium-ion battery fires have been reported to date.
The power stations were sold by industrial distributors and electrical wholesalers nationwide from November 2021 through November 2023 for approximately $1,300 each.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled power stations and return them to their original place of purchase. Klein Tools is contacting all known purchasers directly.
