Plain-English summary
Cree Inc. is recalling approximately 10,000 CXB Series LED high-bay indoor light fixtures. The recall involves model numbers CXB-23L-40K-U-1-HC and CXB-23L-40K-U-1-JP. These silver-colored fixtures measure about 16 inches x 18 inches x 7 inches and feature a tempered glass lens. They were sold to businesses through wholesale electrical distributors and lighting contractors from January 2014 through April 2014 for approximately $350 each.
The tempered glass lens on the affected fixtures can break, posing a laceration hazard. Cree has received 15 reports of the glass lens breaking, but no injuries have been reported. The affected products can be identified by a manufacturing lot number found underneath the UPC label on the rim of the fixture. Only products with lot numbers starting with specific codes (AG45-AG52, AH01-AH18, L1H01-L1H18) are included in this recall.
Consumers should stop using the light fixtures immediately and contact Cree for free replacements. Cree is contacting purchasers directly. For more information, consumers can contact Cree Technical Support toll-free at (800) 425-4653 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, email [email protected], or visit www.cree.com and click on "Support" and then "CXB Series Recall".
