Plain-English summary
Halcyon Manufacturing Inc. is recalling approximately 20,300 units of diving equipment, including specific models of Buoyancy Compensator Devices (BCDs) and inflatable devices such as Surface Marker Buoys and Lift Bags. The recall is being conducted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) because the overpressure valves (OPVs) in the equipment could fail. This failure allows the BCDs and diver lift inflatable devices to leak, which poses a drowning hazard to divers.
The affected equipment was sold by diving equipment retailers and distributors from January 2006 through December 2008. Prices ranged from $350 to $450 for the BCDs and $50 to $275 for the inflatable devices. The word "Halcyon" is printed on the recalled diving equipment. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled diving equipment. To receive a free replacement of the overpressure valve spring, consumers should return the equipment to an authorized Halcyon distributor or dealer, or to the Halcyon factory. For more information, consumers can contact Halcyon at (800) 425-2966 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, visit www.halcyon.net/opv-recall, or email [email protected].
