Plain-English summary
The Land of Nod, of Northbrook, Ill., is recalling about 750 Cottage Bunk Beds due to a fall hazard. The beds were sold in white and pine/honey finishes from January 2006 through January 2009 at The Land of Nod catalog, website, and stores in Illinois and Washington state for about $1,100. The beds can be configured as bunk beds or twin beds and include upper bunk guardrails that should be secured with screws.
The firm received two reports of vertical slats detaching from the upper bunk guardrails when screws were missing. No injuries have been reported. The hazard exists because the detached slats can pose a risk of children falling when getting in or out of the upper bunk.
Consumers should check that all screws attaching the guardrails to the upper bunk have been installed. If screws are missing, consumers should stop using the beds as a bunk bed immediately and contact The Land of Nod to receive new screws free of charge. All known purchasers have been notified of the recall. For additional information, contact The Land of Nod at (800) 933-9904.
