Red Devil Gas Grills Recalled for Burn Hazard from Air Intake Ignition
CPSC and Value City are recalling Red Devil gas grills because the design allows gas to ignite in the air intake tube, causing burns.
What this means for you

Plain-English summary
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Value City are announcing a recall of Red Devil gas grills sold at Value City and Schottenstein stores. The recall involves approximately 10,800 units of red metal gas grills with tripod stands, manufactured by e4L Inc., Quantum North America Inc., and Cadac. These grills were sold from about April 2000 through July 2002 for about $60.
The hazard exists because the grill's design allows consumers to light the unit at the air intake tube instead of the burner. Although the grill appears to function normally, gas inside the air intake tube can ignite and reach temperatures of up to 750 degrees Fahrenheit. This presents a significant burn hazard to consumers. There have been 44 reports of consumers suffering burns to legs, hands, and fingers, including some third-degree burns, after the grills collapsed during use. Additionally, more than 1,000 consumers returned their grills to the manufacturers because the units collapsed.
Consumers should stop using these grills immediately. Those who purchased Red Devil gas grills from Value City or Schottenstein stores can return the product to the store for a store credit. For more information, consumers can call Value City Customer Service at (888) 278-6370 or visit www.valuecity.com. If the retailer does not provide a refund, repair, or replacement, consumers should contact CPSC at (800) 638-2772.
