Plain-English summary

Nexgrill Industries Inc. is recalling approximately 16,000 Nexgrill Model 720-0025 Gas Grills. The recall is due to a fire hazard where the hose connecting the propane tank to the burner manifold may run too close to the firebox. Heat from the firebox can cause the hose to detach from the burner manifold, resulting in a gas leak and potential fire.

The recalled grills were sold at Target, Costco Canada, H-E-B, Chase-Pitkin, and Gander Mountain stores nationwide from December 2003 through March 2005 for between $499 and $599. Nexgrill has received 31 incident reports, including 28 fires, three hoses melting, two cases of property damage, and four injuries.

Consumers should stop using the gas grill immediately and contact Nexgrill to receive a free, self-installation retrofit heat shield assembly. The company can be reached toll-free at (888) 361-0888 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or via the company's website.
