These boxes measure about 36 inches long by 19 inches wide and 21 inches high.

The recall is being conducted because the toy box lids can fall suddenly, creating entrapment and strangulation hazards for young children. Additionally, spaces at the end of the lid hinges can cause pinched, crushed, or lacerated fingers. The product fails to meet the voluntary standard for toy chests, which requires lid supports to prevent sudden falling and hinges that minimize finger-pinch spaces. CPSC and Palliser Furniture Ltd. have not received any reports of injuries or incidents involving these toy boxes.

The toy boxes were sold at furniture stores nationwide and in Canada from July 1999 through August 2001 for about $150 (about $200 CAD).
