Palliser Poof Chairs and Table Set Recalled for Sharp Metal Rod Hazard

Palliser Furniture Ltd. is recalling Poof Chairs and Table Sets because a metal rod can protrude through the fabric, posing a risk of scratches or cuts.

What this means for you

Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a physical hazard (sharp metal rod) with one reported minor injury (scratch) and no reports of serious injury or death, fitting the Moderate criteria for low-risk physical hazards.

Plain-English summary

Palliser Furniture Ltd. is recalling the Poof Chairs and Table Set due to a safety hazard. The set includes two semi-circular chairs and one circular table in blue, red, and yellow fabric. A metal rod inside the furniture can protrude through the fabric, and its sharp edges could cause scratches or cuts to consumers.

Approximately 155 units were sold at furniture stores nationwide and in Canada between June 2003 and January 2004 for between $150 and $200. The law label on the bottom of the chair identifies "Hong Feng Furniture Cushion Co." and "Palliser Furniture Ltd." Palliser received one report of a consumer who was scratched.

Consumers should take the product away from children immediately and return the chairs and table to the retailer for a full refund. For more information, consumers can call Palliser Furniture Ltd. at (204) 988-5600 or email [email protected].
