The recalled chests, which feature clear plastic bodies and red or blue lids, were originally marketed for toy storage. They lack a lid-support device, do not have adequate ventilation when the lid is closed, and have latches that secure the lids. These design flaws create a hazard where children could become entrapped and suffocate inside the chests.

The affected products include three specific models: #WT-80 (19.75 inches long, 21.875 inches wide, 18.75 inches high), #WT-120 (19.25 inches long, 30.75 inches wide, 18.75 inches high), and #WT-175 (19.25 inches long, 30.75 inches wide, 28.25 inches high). Model numbers are listed on the instruction sheet and label. The labels also depict the chest being used for toy storage and include the warning: "CAUTION: Do Not Sit On Lid. Do Not Climb In Trunk." These chests were sold nationwide at retail and department stores, such as Target, since January 1996 for approximately $25.

CPSC and IRIS U.S.A. are not aware of any injuries involving these chests, and the recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. Consumers should immediately prevent children from having access to these chests and stop using them for toy storage. Households with young children can return the chests to the store where purchased for a refund.
