Plain-English summary
New Flyer of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2013-2027 buses, including the XE40, XDE60, XDE40, XD40, XE35, XHE40, XN60, XHE60, and XE60 models. The instrument panel indicator light may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights are on and the master run switch is in the 'Off' position. This condition causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Without the illuminated reminder, drivers may fail to turn off the exterior lights when no longer needed. Hazard warning lights that remain activated unintentionally can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
New Flyer will update the software free of charge to correct the issue. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on November 20, 2026. Owners may contact New Flyer's customer service at 1-800-241-2947 for more information.
