General Motors Vehicles Recalled for Missing Electronic Owner's Manual
General Motors has recalled multiple Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Buick vehicles from 2025–2027 because their radios were not properly configured to download the electronic owner's manual during production. Without the manual, owners may not know how to safely operate the vehicle.
What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a documentation/manual access issue with no reported injuries or deaths. Although there is theoretical risk of harm, the defect does not create an immediate safety hazard and falls under minor operational compliance rather than a high-risk pathogens or structural defect.
Plain-English summary
General Motors has recalled certain 2025–2027 model-year vehicles across the Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Buick brands, including the Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500, Corvette, Equinox, Blazer EV, Tahoe, Traverse, Suburban, Sierra trucks, Hummer EV, Escalade, CT5, OPTIQ, Enclave, and others. The affected vehicles' radios were not set to the correct status during production to enable automatic download of the electronic owner's manual.
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208 requires these vehicles to be compliant with occupant protection regulations. Without access to the owner's manual, owners may not know how to safely use and operate the vehicle, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Dealers will reset the vehicle radio to facilitate the automatic download of the electronic owner's manual at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 16, 2026. Owners can contact General Motors customer service at 1-866-467-9700, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223. Vehicle Identification Numbers involved in the recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on February 26, 2026. The manufacturer's recall number is N252540430.
