2025 Volvo VNL Truck Trailer Lights Control Module Defect
Volvo Trucks is recalling certain 2025–2026 VNL and 2025 VNR trucks because the trailer body control module may be improperly manufactured, causing trailer lights to fail to illuminate and reducing visibility.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The defect creates a significant risk of harm (impaired visibility increasing crash risk). No injuries or deaths have been reported, and this is a structural vehicle defect that does not meet the criteria for Severe or Critical classification.
Plain-English summary
Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain 2025–2026 Volvo VNL (4) trucks and 2025 Volvo VNR (4) trucks. The trailer body input/output module may be improperly manufactured, which can cause trailer tail lights and turn signals to fail to illuminate.
When towing a trailer, non-functioning tail lights and turn signals reduce visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the trailer body input/output module at no charge. Owners received notification letters mailed November 19, 2025. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' internal recall number is RVXX2507.
