2024-2025 Ford Mustang recalled for water damage to exterior lighting
Ford is recalling approximately 105,545 2024 and 2025 Mustang vehicles because water may enter the body control module and disable exterior lights. Failure to illuminate reduces visibility to other drivers and increases crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: No deaths or injuries have been reported. This meets the rubric criterion for Score 3 (High): a risk-of-harm situation (exterior lighting failure reducing visibility and increasing crash risk) where actual injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 105,545 certain 2024 and 2025 Mustang vehicles, including Mustang GTD models. Water may enter the body control module and cause loss of communication with exterior lighting systems, including the license plate light, side marker lights, and tail lights. The affected vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, which covers lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.
When these exterior lights fail to illuminate, visibility to other drivers is reduced, increasing the risk of a crash. The remedy involves dealer inspection and sealing of body seams as necessary, inspection of the body control module for corrosion, and replacement of the module if needed. All repairs will be performed free of charge.
